AdamsonJones firm of patent and trade mark attorneys, has relocated to larger business premises less than a year from opening its latest office in Leicester.

The intellectual property specialists, who have office space in Nottingham, Leicester and London, are already seeing impressive growth following the company’s decision to open an office in Leicester in March last year. Doubling its headcount within 6 months the firm has now moved to bigger premises at the prestigious Friars Mill development – four historic buildings close to the city centre and recently redesigned into contemporary workspaces.

The size of Leicestershire’s engineering and manufacturing sector was a key factor in the company’s decision to open an office in the city, which is proving to be a wise move.

Nic Ferrar, director and patent attorney, heads up the Leicester office and explains why Leicester was the right choice of location for the firm. Nic said “Leicester has a relatively high proportion of manufacturing enterprises – 13.4% compared to the national average of 6.3%. As our company has grown so has our breadth of technical expertise and we consider high-tech manufacturing and engineering to represent not only a core area of expertise, but also a key strength in the Leicestershire economy. We are keen to support innovation in this sector over the coming years.”

Nic adds “It is an exciting time for Leicester, which sees itself as the R&D capital of the Midlands, and the discussions that we are having with businesses in the area tell us that innovation is firmly on the region’s agenda.”

The original Leicester team of two has recently been joined by Sri Dhevi Santhana Dass, senior trade mark assistant, and Janet Imo, administrative assistant. This means that the team has the breadth needed to manage all types of intellectual property locally within Leicestershire.

AdamsonJones plans for growth continue as the firm looks to recruit a technical assistant to support its expanding list of Leicester and Leicestershire clients in the manufacturing and engineering sector.
