Intellectual property specialist Barker Brettell has been awarded gold tier status in the 2019 World Trademark Review (WTR), stepping up from last year’s silver ranking after securing outstanding client references. Sarah Lait, head of the firm’s trade mark team who, along with partners Catherine Wiseman, Tracy Arch, Lucy Walker and Rosalyn Newsome, were singled out for particular praise by clients. Described by World Trademark Review as a firm that is “extremely easy to work with”, the 25-strong trade mark team of professionals and support staff is spread across its Birmingham and Southampton offices.

The award comes hot on the heels of the 2018 European Trademark Filing Statistics for UK Law Firms, which ranked Barker Brettell as the second highest trade mark filer in the UK, outstripping a number of professional services goliaths in the process, many of whom are multinational law firms headquartered in London.
