Urgo Medical was nominated by the Made in Britain organisation for the award of “unsung hero” who recognised its corporate vision to encourage professional development amongst its employees at every level of the business.
By investing in its people Urgo Medical has built a reputation as a great place to work and an organisation to do business with; “the firm has achieved double digit sales and profit growth in 2014 and 2015, and is on course for the same in 2016.” (Justin Cole, Managing Director Urgo Medical UK)
The Shepshed site has been in operation since 1924 and has produced various products ranging from underwear to sportswear and now compression hosiery and bandages for the NHS. Interesting fact, Urgo Medical produces enough bandages to go round the world twice and supports over 1 million legs with compression hosiery every year.
Through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) initiative Urgo Medical is continuously looking to develop new and more efficient ways of manufacturing by recruiting the brightest talent from local universities.
“Significant value has been created within the business over the past three years, including an apprentice scheme, university collaborations, KTP research investment, significant change to operational processes and a 20% increase in the UK workforce.” (Justin Cole, Managing Director Urgo Medical UK)
Urgo Medical looks forward to continuing the success it has achieved into the future through its continued investment in innovation and the local community. To find out more about Urgo Medical please visit www.urgomedical.co.uk or email [email protected].
