As part of its accelerated growth strategy, full-service law firm Shakespeare Martineau has announced new heads of its East Midlands office hubs in Nottingham and Leicester.

Corporate partner Lisa Botterill and residential development partner Louise Ingram will share the role of office head in Leicester, taking the helm following a decade of leadership by Roy Botterill, who remains with the firm as corporate partner.

Corporate expert Roger Harcourt will retain his position of head of the Nottingham hub for a further three years.

Across a three-year term, the trio will lead plans to grow the East Midlands hubs, which employ more than 250 people – playing a critical role in shaping a positive and collaborative culture with the regional business community and in supporting local people.

The appointments are part of Shakespeare Martineau’s ongoing commitment to reinforcing and strengthening its footprint and expertise in the East Midlands – providing legal and professional services support to the region’s businesses, leaders and people.

Lisa Botterill said: “I’d like to thank Roy for his sterling leadership over the past 10 years, for helping to shape the Leicester office and steer it to its market-leading position in Leicester and beyond. Both Louise and I look forward to taking on the challenge and continuing Roy’s great work.”

Shakespeare Martineau managing director Victoria Tester said: “Location means a lot to us and our clients and, unlike other firms that are retreating from local office footprints, we are expanding. As well as widening our talent pool, this benefits our clients by giving them direct access to legal experts who know and are embedded in the local market, and who are supported by our full-service national offering.

“We see the potential of the East Midlands market, and the breadth of services we provide in the region. We look forward to Lisa, Louise and Roger working with our clients and contacts within the region to unlock that potential and continue to evolve our East Midlands hubs’ dynamic culture and positive environment.”

Lisa supports clients with M&A transactions as well as investments on behalf of entrepreneurial and institutional clients. Lisa has specialist experience of transactions in the healthcare sector, as well as complex joint ventures – bringing together property developers and funders.

Louise’s expertise is residential development and she works with landowners, promoters and developers to deliver new homes across the region in a strategic and sustainable way.  Louise has been named as a Leading Individual in her field by the Legal 500.

Both Louise and Lisa trained with the firm, qualifying in the early 2000s, and so have a wealth of understanding of not only their specialist legal fields but also the firm and the local market.

Roger has been with Shakespeare Martineau since 2006 and advises clients on starting, buying, investing in and selling companies. He specialises in fast growth businesses as well as social and primary care providers and medtech businesses.

Shakespeare Martineau, as part of legal and professional services group Ampa, is a certified B Corporation, meaning it is legally required to consider the impact of business decisions on its people, customers, suppliers, communities and environment, ensuring a balance between purpose and profit.

Ampa, which employs more than 1,400 people over 18 hubs across the UK, is recruiting lateral hires and teams and proactively looking for like-minded businesses to join the group.
