Loughborough based company, Morningside Pharmaceuticals, recently made a large donation towards a mini-bus for Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland.

The bus was officially launched yesterday and will help to serve the local older community within the Charnwood area particularly those who are isolated.

Chief Executive Officer of Morningside Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Dr Nik Kotecha said: “We wanted to help in some way to reach out to those older people who have found themselves incredibly isolated. This mini-bus will be a life-line for many local older people throughout the Charnwood area and beyond, and we are proud to help the work that Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland does in the community”.

The ‘Morningside Mini-Bus’ is fully wheelchair accessible and will be in use every Monday to Friday from 08:30 – 17:00, as well as providing weekend day trips, transport to community activities and day care centres including the very successful Men in Sheds project in Loughborough.

Executive Director of Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland, Tony Donovan said “We are incredibly grateful for the support that Morningside Pharmaceuticals have given us and this transport will provide an essential service for many years to come that will help significantly towards our important work in tackling loneliness and isolation”.
