GEFCO Forwarding UK Ltd has become a patron of Medilink East Midlands (EM), the organisation that works with experts in all areas of healthcare and medical technologies to support manufacturers in the sector in bringing their products to market.

GEFCO, the global logistics provider with extensive experience providing services for the (LS&H) sector, has worked with the organisation for two years, and the new patronage further strengthens its Life Sciences and Healthcare consultancy service.

Chas Sangha, UK Quality Manager, GEFCO Forwarding said the service established as a standalone solution to support its new and existing pharmaceutical and medical technology accounts, and all accompanying advice, is bespoke to each client and addresses several logistical aspects which new (LS&H) players are often left to navigate alone.

“As a player in the pharmaceutical supply chain, we recognise our responsibility to the end user – the patient – and encourage our customers to do the same,” said Sangha, who brings over 25 years’ pharma experience to her role at GEFCO which she took up in September 2016.

“Part of this responsibility involves ensuring our small and medium enterprise (SME) customers safely navigate the supply chain landscape, and in addition to traditional solutions, we explain the documentation, regulation, and procedure it takes to get a new pharmaceutical product to market.

“It is a great match for us to be working with Medilink EM. It will help us to continue providing our customers with the best possible support and advice especially when it comes to Good Distribution Practice (GDP) compliance.”

The GEFCO Forwarding consultancy service also advises manufacturers on Customs procedures, and compliance requirements across markets.

“We’re delighted that GEFCO have chosen to become Patrons of Medilink EM and show their backing for us and our ongoing activities within the Life Sciences sector, said Darren Clark, Chief Executive, Medilink.

As one of our first Patrons, GEFCO demonstrated immediate support when they hosted our Summer BBQ, which marked the launch of our new membership offering in September 2016. We look forward to continuing to work with GEFCO in what I’m sure will be a very mutually beneficial partnership.”

The partnership with Help2Export, a Northampton, UK based organisation which assists businesses in the area with their export needs, will see GEFCO provide specialised advice to UK based exporters.

Help2Export is a mentoring service that provides small businesses in the East Midlands area with the support they need to establish and maximise their export operations, liaising with the Department for International Trade (DIT), and regional Chambers of Commerce.

“The unique mix of networking and support services offered by Medilink have proved invaluable to GEFCO and our clients,” explained Tracey Ramsden, Business Development Manager at GEFCO Forwarding.
