The Board of Medilink Midlands is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Ewa Truchanowicz FRSA and Dr Mark Eccleston MBA as non-executive directors of Medilink Midlands.

The life sciences industry organisation has appointed the two new members to strengthen its existing board of directors, who use their sector expertise to drive Medilink Midlands forward, and ensure that the company is best placed to deliver economic growth and success for members, partners and the wider life science ecosystem.

Dr Ewa Truchanowicz FRSA is an experienced business leader and independent adviser with experience of building successful enterprises who is now providing consulting services to technology-focused enterprises ranging from startups to multinationals. Until recently a Managing Director of a health tech company, her expertise is in supporting international companies within digital and med-tech, building highly performing teams and operations, and creating networks of strategic support to help innovative companies succeed.

She is also a successful published academic and has authored peer-reviewed publications including in the highest ranking medical journals including BMJ and NEJM.

Truchanowicz commented:

“I joined the Medilink Midlands’ board in recognition of the organisation’s pivotal role in the Midlands Life Sciences ecosystem. The Midlands is attractive for companies considering starting or continuing their success journeys. The burgeoning capital asset investment, excellent higher education facilities, links to innovative NHS organisations, and specialist services such as rehabilitation, are all here. Medilink Midlands is the ‘go-to partner’ for navigating the local landscape of public and private organisations offering support for business growth.”

The second appointment to the Medilink Midlands board, is polymer chemist and biotechnology entrepreneur Dr Mark Eccleston MBA.

Mark has over 30 years experience working in translation science in both drug and biomarker development and former BBSRC Enterprise fellow. Mark is the CEO of ValiRx Plc, an AIM listed UK pharmaceutical development company and CEO of OncoLytika Ltd – a biotech consultancy company. In addition to his active CEO positions, Mark serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Volition.

Eccleston said:

“I am an innovator and very active in the diagnostic, biomarkers and pharma sectors and a prolific networker and felt I could bring some of that experience to Medilink Midlands, particularly in some of the areas that are currently less well served that the traditional MedTech space to help grow and expand Medilink Midlands’ reach. I’m also well connected in the US and EU and look forward to helping expand MMs reach outside of the UK.”

Commenting on the new appointments, Melanie Davidson, CEO at Medilink Midlands, said:

“On behalf of the Medilink Midlands board, we are delighted to welcome Ewa and Mark. Their combined valuable industry knowledge will be a fantastic addition to the board, and will help us continuously improve our support offering to medtech and life sciences organisations across the Midlands and beyond.”
