Medilink East Midlands staff are busy preparing to take part in the Nottingham Post Corporate Challenge, part of the Robin Hood Marathon on Sunday 25 September. Running as the “Medilimpers”, in recognition that most of the team are not runners, they are hoping they won’t be living up to that name on the day!

The team, who have been fitting training sessions into their lunch breaks and after work, vary from total beginners to more seasoned runners, such as Chief Executive Dr Darren Clark. Darren completed the London Marathon for the fourth time earlier this year, with a race time of 3 hours 55 mins, and has run in Nottingham for the last four years.

Medilink have chosen to run in support of The Ear Foundation, a Nottingham-based charity which provides services for adults and children with hearing difficulties.
Their vision is that all deaf people have the opportunity to hear, communicate and develop spoken language using the latest technological interventions.

Sue Archbold, Chief Executive commented;

‘We are delighted that Medilink have once again chosen to support us; the money they raise is extremely valuable and will go towards our ever developing family education programme to help support children and their parents make better use of their hearing technologies. We wish them the best of luck in their training and on the day.”

Medilink East Midlands is based at BioCity, Nottingham, and provides business support to life sciences organisations across the region. Four of the team members will be completing the half marathon, the first time that two of them have tackled this distance (and the first ever race of any distance for one), while the other novice runners are taking part in the “mini” marathon of 1.5 miles. The remaining few staff will be showing their support from the side-lines and may even be bringing pompoms!
