Medilink East Midlands has become the second significant industry sector body in as many months to announce a new data and technical-driven partnership with the Silverstone Technology Cluster (STC).

Medilink EM is the East Midlands life science industry association whose aim is to help companies establish, develop and grow. It provides specialist support to boost the region’s economic output from life sciences by overcoming barriers to growth. Medilink’s highly knowledgeable team is a proven and trusted source of expert assistance.

The Silverstone Technology Cluster is a not-for-profit organisation to support the growth of the high-tech automotive cluster and attract investment into the Northamptonshire region.

The new partnership between the two companies has the potential to open up new business opportunities and collaborations for automotive companies in the East Midlands which are looking to branch out into life sciences.

As part of the reciprocal membership agreement between Medilink EM and the STC, both companies will promote each other’s relevant industry news, events and opportunities, as well as being invited to speak at relevant Medilink East Midlands and STC events.

In 2019 Medilink presented at the STC’s Annual Conference and the two organisations have been working together ever since, with the aim of increasing the synergy between the medical technology and automotive sectors.

Darren Clark, CEO of Medilink East Midlands, said: “With technology and data-based innovation increasing, cross-sector activity is seen as a really important step forward, particularly with the outstanding demonstration in this current crisis of fast turn-around of automotive and aerospace companies to produce essential medical technology and materials.

“Medilink East Midlands has the knowledge and expertise of the highly-regulated medical sector market, with a large number of innovative and diverse life science companies. I am confident that this collaboration between Medilink East Midlands and the STC will help to open up new and exciting collaboration opportunities for businesses in both the life sciences and automotive sectors. With the right help and support, I think we will have a lot of company successes from our new partnership.”

Pim van Baarsen added: “Our partnership with Medilink EM has the potential to be very exciting for our member companies.

“It is clear from past and present activity during the COVID-19 pandemic that many of our members have the precision, speed and all-round capabilities to provide innovative solutions in the life sciences sectors.

“This could really help to open new doors for them in terms of funding for projects, job creation and growth.”
