“Serendipity played a significant role in Footfalls calling Nottingham home. And what a home it is. The history of textile production is knitted into the fabric of almost every building in central Nottingham; from the Lace Market to the Victorian Mills that produced hosiery by the train load. Footfalls now considers itself to be a part of that tradition and history- to be part of Nottingham”
Simon McMaster (Founder & CSO)

It is in these uncertain times that Footfalls wants to give something back to a city that has given us so much.

Footfalls and Heartbeats are very excited to announce Masks for the Masses, a new initiative to help supply masks to key workers and organisations in Nottingham and the surrounding area.

Using our high tech Santoni-X knitting machine, Footfalls and Heartbeats are manufacturing textile-based masks which are now on sale to the general public. For every pack of 2 masks we sell, we will donate one mask to a key worker or organisation such as logistics workers, carers or supermarket workers. Footfalls are determined to help those risking so much in order to support NHS staff and keep society functioning.

Our textile-based masks are knitted using a microfibre polyester and an antimicrobial yarn. The masks can be re-used and are fully machine and hand washable. They come in two distinct colours, black and burgundy/plum.

It’s very important to stress that our masks are not a replacement for a medical-grade mask. We think of them as a valid alternative which puts up a physical barrier against the outside world. With a growing body of research now demonstrating the prevalence of asymptomatic cases of Coronavirus, protecting yourself and others in everyday life is becoming increasingly important.
