The LLEP has re-appointed four board members to serve a second three year term: Andrew Cliffe, Managing Director, East Midlands Airport, Jaspal Singh Minhas, Managing Director, Electrical Design & MFG Co Ltd, Sharon Redrobe, CEO, Twycross Zoo and Kevin Harris, Vice-Chair of the LLEP.

Kevin Harris, Vice-Chair of the LLEP, said: “I am delighted to have been reappointed to the LLEP Board for a second term and am looking forward to continuing the great progress achieved to date. Given the challenges facing the U.K. economy in the next 3 years it is vital that Leicester and Leicestershire has a strong LLEP Board and I am honoured to serve as part of it”.

In addition, Dr Nik Kotecha, CEO at Morningside Pharmaceuticals Ltd based in Loughborough has been welcomed as a new Board member. Morningside is a manufacturer, wholesaler and exporter of Branded Generic Medicines with a diverse product range.

Commenting on his new role as a LLEP Board member, Dr Kotecha said: “Morningside Pharmaceuticals has been successfully growing for over 25 years.  We are dedicated to delivering first-class medicines that can make a significant difference to the lives of patients globally. Our products are delivered to UK hospitals and pharmacy’s twice daily.”

“I’m thrilled to join the LLEP Board and looking forward to helping drive economic growth for Leicester and Leicestershire by addressing the key strategic issues that will support business growth and investment; and create sustainable employment opportunities.”

Nick Pulley, Chair of the LLEP, said: “I’d like to personally welcome Nik to the LLEP Board. Nik will bring a wealth of business experience as well as extensive knowledge and expertise in the life sciences sector.”

The LLEP is one of 38 Local Economic Partnerships (LEPs) in the country, led by the business community to spearhead local economic development.

The board is made up of a Chair and seven private sector members, the City Mayor, Leader of the County Council, two District Council Leaders, Vice-Chancellor of one of the three universities and a Principal of one of the further education colleges.

The LLEP Board play an important role by shaping the strategy for growth, making key investment decisions and acting as ambassadors for Leicester and Leicestershire at a local, national and international level. To find out more about the LLEP board, please click here.
