Pd-m is an innovation and sustainability consultancy working within healthtech and life sciences sector, and is delighted to announce its new status as an associate member of Medilink Midlands.

As a proud member of this ecosystem, we look forward to supporting the network in their journey towards innovation and sustainability.

At Pd-m, we exist to positively impact the outcome of that journey, providing you with strategic thinking, sound decision-making, diverse experience and a future-focused approach.

We work with a range of clients including startups, SMEs, manufacturers, academic institutions, PLCs and global organisations. Our expertise spans the entire process from initial concept design to manufacturing, ensuring that every step is taken with a commitment to reducing environmental impact. Our services include crafting comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plans and implementing our unique “Innovate to Zero” (I2Z) programme.

Our team is led by Chairman Andrew Davidson, who brings extensive experience in running successful SMEs, re-shoring UK manufacturing, and improving carbon footprints. CEO Richard Hall, recently appointed as an expert by the Design Council, and Sustainability Lead Rich Shaw, each have a wealth of experience in design, product management and sustainability, and further strengthen the leadership. Supported by a talented design team working across two locations, we boast over 20 years of experience in the healthtech and life science sectors.

Success stories: Partnering for sustainability

We are proud to highlight our recent success with fellow Medilink Midlands Member Pennine Healthcare, who won the Sustainability Award at the Medilink Midlands Business Awards 2024. This recognition showcases the impact of our collaborative approach and sustainability initiatives.

Pd-m began working with Pennine to establish a Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP), including a comprehensive Scope 3 screening to establish a thorough baseline, which allowed us to focus on both immediate improvements and long-term strategies.

Additionally, through our Innovate to Zero programme, we ran a workshop for Pennine’s senior leadership team and key stakeholders to highlight immediate and longer-term opportunities to reduce product emissions and improve margin. This strategy covers materials, user insight, logistics, packaging, regulatory compliance, manufacturing and onshoring.

Commitment to net zero

Our commitment to net zero is fuelled by collaboration and strong leadership. As official partners in innovation and sustainability with the NIHR’s new HealthTech Research Centre (HRC), we are dedicated to setting the standard for developing and delivering sustainable medical technologies. By integrating sustainability from the product development stage, Pd-m and the HRC will work together to meet the demands of the net zero agenda and support the NHS’s carbon reduction commitments.

And now, as an associate member of Medilink Midlands, Pd-m is excited to extend our expertise and support to the Midlands healthtech and life sciences community. Together, we can drive innovation and sustainability, making a positive impact on the industry and beyond.
