Advancing global operations and realigning domestic sites to strengthen the organisation and lay the groundwork to become a company with annual revenue of 1 trillion yen.
HORIBA, Ltd. (Head Office: Kyoto, Japan; President: Masayuki Adachi) announces plans to build a new global headquarters on the site of its current head office in Kisshoin, Minami-ku, Kyoto. Construction began in December 2025, and completion is planned for January 2028.
HORIBA’s current Kyoto head office building was completed in March 1997 and will soon mark its 30th anniversary. During this time, HORIBA Group’s net sales have increased approximately sevenfold, operating profit approximately fifteenfold, and the number of employees approximately fourfold. Under its medium- to long-term management plan, “MLMAP*1 2028,” HORIBA is pursuing growth with an eye toward 500 billion yen in net sales. To ensure sustainable long-term growth, HORIBA determined that it must further strengthen its global operations and business foundation, enabling the company to respond quickly and flexibly to changes in the business environment and take proactive action. Based on this assessment, HORIBA decided to build a new global headquarters.
The new headquarters building will be a 10-story structure with one basement level and will have approximately 11 times the floor area of the current head office. It will incorporate measures to optimise talent deployment and enhance communication, accelerating a wide range of business reforms supported by both global and local capabilities. A newly established “Global Operation Floor” (provisional name*2) will house a business strategy team composed of multinational talent. Serving as the strategic hub and cross-functional enabler for the entire group, the team will work to rapidly develop and execute strategies. The building will also feature a seamless office environment with minimal physical barriers, as well as spaces designed to encourage open dialogue across departments and positions, including a “Mini FUN HOUSE” (provisional name*2) to foster new connections and accelerate innovation. In addition, HORIBA will consolidate planning, strategy, administrative, and sales functions from group companies across the Kyoto–Shiga area surrounding its current head office into the new global headquarters. Other existing sites in Kyoto-Shiga area will be specialised for development, manufacturing, and service functions to improve operational efficiency and capabilities.
HORIBA is naming this initiative, which combines the construction of the new global headquarters and the realignment of domestic sites, the “HORIBA World Headquarters Project.” Through this project, HORIBA will pursue its next stage of evolution toward becoming a company with annual revenue of 1 trillion yen.

Key Features
1. Establishing headquarters functions to respond quickly and act proactively amid changes in the business environment
- HORIBA will create a new “Global Operation Floor” (provisional name*2) and launch a business strategy team composed of multinational talent. As the group’s strategic hub and cross-functional enabler, the team will rapidly gather insights and develop and execute strategies. It will also connect functions such as R&D and sales, help resolve company-wide issues and generate synergies among group companies to drive business growth.
2. An open office design that creates new connections and deepens communication
- HORIBA will adopt an office design based on “Activity Based Working,” enabling employees to choose the most suitable place and style of work depending on the task. A seamless space connected by a central atrium and grand staircase, along with open spaces throughout the building, will enable diverse talent to interact freely, fostering new insights and collaboration and accelerating innovation.
- HORIBA will install a “Mini FUN HOUSE” (provisional name*2) on the executive floor, drawing on the concept of the “FUN HOUSE” in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, which is used for global meetings that bring together management from overseas sites and for group training programs. The space is designed to foster the open and inclusive communication culture that HORIBA values across departments, roles, and nationalities.
3. Open exhibition spaces and facilities designed to turn every guest into a HORIBA fan
- On the first floor, HORIBA will establish the “HORIBA Museum” (provisional name*2), where visitors can systematically learn about HORIBA’s history and DNA from its founding to the present. On the second floor, HORIBA will install the “HORIBA Showcase” (provisional name*2), using real products along with technologies such as 3D projection to provide an immersive view of HORIBA’s global products, technologies, and sites. Together, these areas will present HORIBA’s past, present, and future potential in a compelling way.
- HORIBA will consider making the first-floor main hall (capacity: approximately 500 people) and various experimental areas available for external use and educational programs to promote STEAM education. HORIBA aims to present an ideal model of coexistence between the company and the local community as a place that fosters culture and learning.
4. Operational efficiency and capabilities enhancement through the realignment of domestic sites
- HORIBA will consolidate functions such as planning, strategy, administration, and sales across HORIBA, Ltd., HORIBA STEC Co., Ltd. (semiconductor business), and HORIBA Advanced Techno Co., Ltd. (water measurement business) to build a stronger and more agile operating model.
- By leveraging the additional capacity created through this consolidation in the new global headquarters, HORIBA will optimise resource allocation to fully leverage the strengths of its existing sites, including the current head office, “HORIBA BIWAKO E-HARBOR” (the Biwako factory in Shiga Prefecture), the head office of HORIBA Techno Service Co., Ltd., and the Kyoto Fukuchiyama Factory (scheduled to begin operations this year). Initiatives will include establishing new co-creation areas for industry–academia–government and inter-company collaboration, as well as improving and expanding manufacturing and service functions.
