Twelve healthcare companies from across the region have been shortlisted as finalists in this year’s Medilink East Midlands Business Awards. The winners will be announced on Wednesday 8 June 2016 at The Nottingham Belfry.

The awards will celebrate regional success in the following five categories: Start-up, sponsored by Franklands Insurance and Risk Management; Export Achievement, sponsored by Hospital Aids; Collaboration with the NHS, sponsored by East Midlands Academic Health Science Network, Innovation, sponsored by Potter Clarkson, and Outstanding Achievement, sponsored by Morningside Pharmaceuticals.

Datalink Electronics, based in Leicestershire, has been shortlisted in an impressive three out of five categories.

Arash Ghadar, Technical Director, commented:

“Datalink Electronics is honoured to have been shortlisted as a finalist for the Medilink East Midlands awards in the three categories of Export, Innovation and Outstanding Achievement. Having a place in the final of three categories demonstrates our expertise and the versatility of our service offering.”

Natalie English Enterprises (NEE) Ltd, an early-stage Medical Device company based in Derbyshire, has received Business Support from Medilink since establishment in 2014, and has now been shortlisted for the Innovation Day Start-up award.

Natalie English, Director, commented:

“It’s a real privilege to have been shortlisted for a start-up award, and I’m looking forward to attending Innovation Day as a finalist. I was determined to create a product for hay fever sufferers like myself that is comfortable, affordable and actually works! Starting my own company was a big step, so I’m thrilled that my hard work has been recognised by the awards judges and the Medilink team.”

The awards event will be held as part of Medilink East Midlands Innovation Day 2016: the region’s premier event for the Life Science and Healthcare Industry. The conference and exhibition is followed by the Awards presentation and gala dinner, and the event is expected to attract over 250 delegates.

Innovation Day 2016 will be compered by Science Writer and Broadcaster Vivienne Parry OBE, and will be held at The Nottingham Belfry on Wednesday 8th June. The winners of the regional Business awards will be announced during the awards dinner, and will automatically be entered in to the Medilink UK National awards.

Other speakers at the event include: Alex Wyke, Patient View, Dr Ruth McKernan CBE, Innovate UK, Professor John Fisher, University of Leeds, Chris Hart, East Midlands Academic Health Science Network and Dr Darren Clark, Chief Executive, Medilink East Midlands.

Darren Clark commented:

“The Medilink East Midlands Business Awards are all about celebrating regional success, and these twelve finalists couldn’t be more deserving. We have seen some exceptional applications; each company has made their own impressive contribution to the healthcare industry. We congratulate all of them on being selected as finalists, and wish them the best of luck on the night.”

Medilink East Midlands provides specialist support to boost the region’s economic output from life sciences by overcoming barriers to growth.
