DESCRIPTION:The SEHTA and Psephos Software UKCA Marking Webinar takes places on Thursday 4th February 2021.  This 2-hour webinar will help guide you through the changes taking place from 1st January 2021. \nDate: Thursday 4th February 2021 \nTime: 14:00 – 16:00 (GMT) \nWebinar platform: WEBEX \nCost:  Early Bird Rate: Book by 30th November \nSEHTA Members: £115+VAT pp \nSEHTA Non-Members: £130+VAT pp \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy attend? \nThe UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) Marking is a new UK product marking that will be used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England\, Wales and Scotland).  It covers most goods which previously required the CE Marking\, including medical devices and in vitro diagnostics.  Therefore\, from 1 January 2021\, there will be a number of changes to how companies will be able to place medical devices on the market in Great Britain which will include: \n\nA new route to market and product marking will be available for manufacturers wishing to place a device on the Great Britain market from 1 January 2021\nFrom 1 January 2021\, all medical devices and in-vitro diagnostic medical devices (IVDs) placed on the UK market will need to be registered with the MHRA. She then became a mental health nurse working in acute psychiatry and care of older people with mental illness. She served as an Army officer for 8 years serving in SE England\, Germany and Scotland heading up mental health services for Forces personnel and their families\, and served on operational tours of Bosnia in 1993/4 with the UN and 1997 with NATO. She returned to the NHS and headed up a drug and alcohol team\, a mentally disordered offender service and developed court-mandated drug treatment for offenders. She has worked in Higher education since 2002 and is currently Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean of College of Health\, Psychology and Social Care at the University of Derby. \n \nProfessor Dean Fathers\, Chair and Non-Executive Board Member\, Mentor and Consultant\nDean has a wealth of experience in a range of organisations\, from FTSE/blue-chips in the private sector\, large national Government Departments and Public Agencies\, including over 20 years experience as the Chair of a variety of NHS organisations\, to medium sized private\, entrepreneurial companies. He is an accomplished Director\, having held numerous executive and non executive board positions and also has international experience as an organisational change leader\, practicing as a Board/Executive Development Consultant in fields as diverse as; the automotive industry\, construction\, distribution\, education\, media\, retail\, and pharmaceutical/health sectors in Europe\, North America and Asia Pacific. The development of strategy as a driver for change and sustainable long term success is his forte and this is linked to a deep understanding of best practices principles of board governance which he has honed through a number of visiting professor roles at Cass\, Leeds\, Lincoln and Nottingham Business Schools. Amongst his portfolio of roles Dean Chairs the Centre for Organisational Resilience at Lincoln International Business School which is exploring the relationship between governance and mental health. \n\nKate Wood – Project Manager Mental Health and Productivity Pilot\nKate has worked in the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Office for over 12 months. She brings with her over 20 years experience in business development and management\, specialising in substance misuse and mental health-having worked in the Prison Service for 10 years and across a variety of community mental health services for both vulnerable adults and young people. Her drive for positive mental wellbeing within all sectors is at the heart of her role and she feels honoured to be leading on the Mental Health and Productivity Pilot. \n\nRobin Pepper – Knowledge Exchange Manager\nRobin has some 30 years experience in a Business Development role spent primarily in the Healthcare Sector. Originally from a Communications and Marketing background\, Robin’s latter career pathway has been established within Higher Education and Health & Social Care\, in a Knowledge Exchange capacity. Much of this time has centred on working with academic partners and practitioners on the development of the workforce\, research and innovation in healthcare practice.\nWorking with employers and healthcare professionals on improving public health and reducing health inequality\, particularly with regards to community & mental health\, is a key focus of Robin’s current role at the University of Derby.

DESCRIPTION:Join Mills & Reeve for this webinar where we will discuss the Medicines and Medical Devices Bill – the UK regulatory environment following Brexit. \nAs the end of the Brexit transition period approaches we see UK Government making plans to move forward as a standalone regulatory system. A central plank of these plans is the Medicines and Medical Devices Bill. This was published in February\, and is making its way through the Parliamentary process. Although existing EU law will be brought over into the UK system from 1 January 2021\, the Bill gives broad powers to the Health Minister to develop the law to fit UK priorities. Promoting fast-track approval of innovative medicines and technologies and reducing red tape\, as well as promoting UK-based industry\, will take on greater importance. \nFor medical devices\, the situation is made more complex by the forthcoming full implementation of the new EU regulations on medical devices and in vitro diagnostics. Likewise\, the EU clinical trials system is yet to be rolled out pending completion of the EMA’s new portal and database. Brown – Professor in Interactive Systems for Social Inclusion\, Nottingham Trent University\nDavid is Professor of Interactive systems for Social Inclusion\, with the Department of Computer Science at Nottingham Trent University. Recent grants on which he has acted as PI include 2 EU H2020 projects (MaTHiSiS and No One Left Behind) on affective computing and digital game making for students with learning disabilities and autism\, an EPSRC project (An Internet of Soft Things) on co-design of networked soft textile interfaces to promote mental wellbeing\, and a range of EU Erasmus projects (e.g.\, Pathway+) to use affective computing to provide personalised learning pathways for students with learning disabilities. He is Conference Co-Chair for the International Conference of Virtual Reality\, Disability and Associated Technologies\, and Associate Editor for Frontiers – Virtual Reality and Medicine. \n\nDr John Broulidakis- Research Scientist\, Emteq Labs\nJohn was educated at the university of Sussex where he gained a first-class honours degree in Psychology with Neuroscience. John completed his PhD at the University of Southampton in Cognitive Neuroscience in 2019. He has direct experience of the issues and challenges associated with managing large and complex clinical studies having successfully managed a €2.5million EU funded study. Currently he is working as a research scientist for medical device manufacture Emteq Labs. There he is involved in manufacturing ecologically valid\, “context aware” emotion recognition systems though novel wearable devices\n \n\nProf. Michael Hornberger- (Professor of Applied Dementia Research\, Norwich Medical School\, University of East Anglia) Associate Dean of Innovation\, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences\, University of East Anglia)\nMichael is the Professor of Applied Dementia Research at the Norwich Medical School and the Associate Dean of Innovation\, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. His research focuses on improving diagnosis\, disease progression tracking and symptom management in dementia. His research group employs various research methodologies (clinical\, cognition\, sensor technology\, neuroimaging and genetics) as well as disease interventions (pharmacological and non-pharmacological) for their research studies. His current research is particularly focused on spatial orientation and navigation deficits in dementia and how this has an impact on people’s outdoor activities such as driving and walking safely.
