SUMMARY:WEBINAR: Harlow: New Horizons in Health Technology & Data
DESCRIPTION:As we move into the second phase of our partnership project with Arise Innovation Hubs at Anglia Ruskin University\, we invite you to join us next month for this online event. \nThe importance of place and how this impacts our ecosystems and places of work is a question of increasing importance. Featuring talks by local experts and key stakeholders\, this session explores the novel opportunity around Harlow and West Essex for innovation and the convergence of data and health technology. In doing so\, we ask: how can we maximise the regional\, national and global impact of our unique combination of location and resources? \nThe session will highlight several projects that are underway and planned for the town\, including the Kao Data Centre which houses the NVIDIA Cambridge-1 Supercomputer\, the ambitious\, digitally focused redevelopment of the Princess Alexandra Hospital\, and the potential relocation of the UKHSA (formerly Public Health England). The session will consider how these and other local developments make Harlow an exciting prospect and a shrewd choice for innovators and entrepreneurs working at the intersection of data and health technology. \nSpeaker Profiles: \n \nBeverley Vaughan\, Innovation Hubs Director\, Anglia Ruskin University \nDr Beverley Vaughan joined the Arise Innovation Hubs as Director in June 2021\, with over 20 years’ experience in the healthcare and life sciences sector. \nBeverley trained as a clinical scientist in Haematology and worked at Cambridge and London University Hospitals. His love of teaching\, however\, didn’t go hand in hand with the somewhat meagre financial rewards for such an important role! As such\, Rod has been in IT/Telecoms ever since…through local access services to switchless global networking and latterly the data centre world. Kao Data has given Rod the opportunity to work more closely with the life sciences of OCP/HPC ready deployments\, allowing research to thrive without being hamstrung by the inability to scale! \n \nChris Cook\, Clinical Effectiveness\, Research and Innovation Manager\, The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust \nChris has worked in the Princess Alexandra Hospital Trust for 33 years. Since then\, multiple pilot studies have been carried out to investigate the proof of concept of the EEG’s capacity to measure hormones\, neurotransmitters and biomarkers.

SUMMARY:IN-PERSON EVENT: AI4SE@STAF 2023
DESCRIPTION:Software Technologies: Applications and Foundations (STAF) is a federation of leading conferences on software technologies. It was formed after the end of the successful TOOLS federated event in 2012\, providing a loose umbrella organisation with a steering committee that aims to provide continuity. \nThe STAF federated event runs annually. The conferences that participate may vary from year to year\, but all focus on practical and foundational advances in software technology. The conferences address all aspects of software technology\, from object-oriented design\, testing\, mathematical approaches to modelling and verification\, transformation\, model-driven engineering\, aspect-oriented techniques\, and tools. \nMuch of today’s business runs on software\, depends on IT systems and data to perform their daily operations\, innovate\, and grow. For many companies\, the lack of software products that meet their specific needs is a major obstacle to their development. \nSoftware Engineering (SE) as a discipline aims at making software development an efficient\, reliable\, and predictable engineering process. AI is increasingly part of SEs ever-growing toolbox as both a solution component in the systems developed and to support the development process itself. \nModel-based low- or no-code methods based on domain-specific languages have gained popularity in recent years by taking a more business-oriented approach\, hiding technical complexity\, making software development more productive and less error prone. They are natural companions to AI which is often intrinsically model-based or can work more effectively at model level. \nThe workshop will bring together a community of solution experts from business and academia with experts in the problem domains to exchange pose questions exchange ideas. Hosted as part of the STAF multiconference\, workshop participants will be able to attend STAF events on the same day\, including conference and workshop keynotes\, to network and develop new collaborations\, business and research opportunities across a range of topics represented by the individual events. \nCLICK HERE TO BOOK YOUR PLACE TODAY\nThe aim of this workshop is to explore and present the challenges and solutions businesses encounter in the application of AI in software engineering. We are especially interested in \n\nmodel-based\, low- or no-code methods\, and domain-specific languages\nsoftware engineer tools for developing or supported by AI solutions\nAI for code generation\, debugging\, testing\, documentation\, and error correction\ndesign and process optimisation and prediction based on AI\, e.g.\, in digital twins\napplications of AI and model-based methods in application domains such as manufacturing\, health\, transport\, energy\, etc.\n\nCompanies and researchers are invited to submit extended abstracts of up to two pages relevant to the workshop’s topics and their application in industry. Abstracts could describe or suggest solutions or pose open challenges. Selected contributions will be presented at the workshop in plenary and discussion sessions. \nPlease click here to check the agenda of the day
