Digital Health is frequently being described as the future of healthcare and it is more important than ever that Digital Health is given the focus needed for the future success. \nTo kick start the working group and to start discussions on what themes/topics should be presented at the future SIGs we are holding a online working group. This extends across the whole spectrum of activities associated with software development and the implementation of digital technology in general.\nHe attended Manchester University and Cranfield Institute of Technology and gained his Diploma in Company Direction from the Institute of Directors. Drawing on his extensive knowledge and passion for technology\, Chris has recently been re-elected as an SME representative on the techUK Central Government Council. Chris also sat on the Advisory Panel as part of an Independent Review of the Isle of Man health and social care system conducted by Sir Johnathan Michael in 2019.\nChris has a particular interest in digital health and citizen centric services – putting the individual at the core and designing digital services to help improve a patient’s experience and outcomes.\nWith more than 30 years’ experience in Enterprise and Digital technology\, Chris is still passionate about the benefits that organisations and individuals can achieve through good software engineering. However\, he still firmly believes that technology isn’t the best starting point – it’s the problems that need to be solved and the outcomes that need to be achieved. \n  \n \nProfessor Dean Fathers\, Chair and Non-Executive Board Member\, Mentor and Consultant\nDean has a wealth of experience in a range of organisations\, from FTSE/blue-chips in the private sector\, large national Government Departments and Public Agencies\, including over 20 years experience as the Chair of a variety of NHS organisations\, to medium sized private\, entrepreneurial companies. He is an accomplished Director\, having held numerous executive and non executive board positions and also has international experience as an organisational change leader\, practicing as a Board/Executive Development Consultant in fields as diverse as; the automotive industry\, construction\, distribution\, education\, media\, retail\, and pharmaceutical/health sectors in Europe\, North America and Asia Pacific. The development of strategy as a driver for change and sustainable long term success is his forte and this is linked to a deep understanding of best practices principles of board governance which he has honed through a number of visiting professor roles at Cass\, Leeds\, Lincoln and Nottingham Business Schools. Amongst his portfolio of roles Dean Chairs the Centre for Organisational Resilience at Lincoln International Business School which is exploring the relationship between governance and mental health.

DESCRIPTION:  \nDigital mental health is an attractive space for SMEs as it offers not only the potential to do good but to do it in new and innovative ways. Despite digital health being a billion-pound industry\, many companies struggle as they face challenges in evaluation and barriers to implementation. On the app store there are thousands of mental health offerings but very few are evidence-based and sustainable. Our mental health system is under immense pressure with a lack of coverage for specific care and long waiting lists. There is both the need and the enthusiasm\, so why is it still so difficult? \nMindTech is a national centre\, funded by NIHR\, focusing on the development\, adoption and evaluation of new technologies for mental healthcare and dementia. MindTech specialises in applications of digital technologies such as computerised therapies and diagnostics\, deployed on smartphone apps\, wearables and virtual reality\, as well as medical devices and assistive technologies. For the past 8 years\, and alongside their Involvement Team who bring expertise by experience\, they have been working with industry\, academia and the NHS to meet the unmet needs of patients\, families and professionals through new technologies. \nThis webinar will provide an overview of MindTech’s research and will share the lessons they have learned through these collaborations from development all the way through to adoption. Previous research has covered the use and development of digital mental health which led her to research that could help ensure high quality evidence-based digital mental health is adopted into the health and social care economy. She has previously worked as research manager at a local Healthwatch ensuring that peoples’ voices are heard in health and social care\, which provided her with significant insight into how local health economies function. \n\nRebecca Woodcock\, Patient and Public Involvement Co-ordinator: Mental Health & Technology Research\, NIHR MindTech MedTech Co-operative\nInformed by a career championing diverse voices in the charity sector and benefiting from a recent MSC in Voluntary Sector Management\, Rebecca brings both passion and personal lived experience to supporting patient and public involvement.\nHer role involves developing and delivering our Involvement strategy\, whilst working with colleagues across the Institute of Mental Health\, other Biomedical Research Council (BRC) themes\, national bodies and industry partners to support the implementation of best practice within PPI.\nAs well as working with Researcher to develop and refine their PPI strategies\, Rebecca has recently co-produced a framework for supporting digital PPI and worked with PPI colleagues and public contributors to present at the MindTech Annual Conference. \n\nDr Charlotte Hall\, Senior Research Fellow\, NIHR MindTech MedTech Co-operative\nCharlotte’s main areas of interest include the implementation of technology to support the assessment\, monitoring and treatment of mental health disorders within children and young people\, particularly in neurodevelopmental disorders.\nCharlotte has specific expertise of the design\, conduct and management of clinical trials in community child mental health services and child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) and is interested in the nuances in online trail delivery.\nCharlotte is trial manager for the ORBIT study\, which is evaluating the remote digital intervention for tics. Amongst other studies\, Charlotte is also a co-investigator on the FACT trial\, assessing the use of the QbTest for young people in prison (led by Dr Chitsabesan at the University of Manchester)\, the QUOTA Trial assessing QbTest or medication management (led by Dr Maddie Groom at the University of Nottingham) and the SATURN trial which looks at medication for children with ADHD and tics. Charlotte is also acting as site lead for the OPTIMA Trial\, investigating the online delivery of a parent ADHD intervention and is principal investigator on the WAIT study looking at waiting list interventions in CAMHS. She was also the trial manager on the AQUA Trial which investigated the clinical and cost-effectiveness of the QbTest\, the findings of which are being implemented in routine practice.\n\n\nDr Jen Martin\, Senior Programme Manager\, NIHR MindTech MedTech Co-operative\nJen has worked in the healthcare technology field for more than 20 years and is currently MindTech’s Senior Programme Manager. Prior to this\, Jen was Senior Research Fellow in Human Factors at the University of Nottingham. Jen’s interests lie in the development\, evaluation and adoption of mental health technologies such as Virtual Reality\, games and digital interventions.\nJen is a co-investigator on the NIHR-funded gameChange project which is using VR to transform the lives of people with psychosis\, and leads the implementation workstream within this. She is a member of NHS England’s Expert Reference Group for Digital Innovation and Adoption and is also an advisor to NICE as part of their work on accreditation of mobile health apps. \n\nManjul Rathee\, CEO\, BFB Labs\nManjul is an impact entrepreneur\, with deep expertise in service design & product innovation in a variety of sectors (including health tech\, youth welfare\, wellness travel and more). He has considerable experience of evaluating new technologies and medical devices and introducing them into the healthcare setting. Dan also holds an honorary chair in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham and is co-director of the Centre for Healthcare Technologies\, a unique collaborative venture between Nottingham University and NUH NHS Trust specialising in the acceleration of curiosity driven science into adopted medical technology. He also chairs the NUH NHS Trust’s Medical Devices Group and sits on a number of trust-wide risk committees. Finally\, Dan was an expert member of the NICE Medical Technology Advisory Committee (MTAC) for 10 years until his “retirement” from the committee in 2019. Dan is a director and founder member of CHEATA since its inception in late 2014. Dan was awarded an OBE for Services to Clinical Engineering particularly during Covid-19 in the 2021 New Years Honours. \n\nDr Sarah Bolton\, CHEATA Business Manager \nSarah has been the Business Manager for CHEATA since August 2016. Prior to joining CHEATA\, Sarah was responsible for Healthcare and Medical Devices at Pera Technology\, a role which included project delivery\, client engagement and management\, project planning and management as well as bid writing for major UK and EC funding bodies. Sarah is an experienced research scientist with a background in academic and clinical inflammation research where she undertook her post-doctoral studies on inflammatory mechanisms in the brain and activation mechanisms of eosinophils in asthma. She joined AstraZeneca in 2004 as an Experimental Pathologist in the Respiratory and Inflammation Therapy area\, specialising in translation pathology of COPD and asthma. After leaving AZ\, Sarah worked as an independent consultant continuing the experimental pathology work for a range of academic and commercial clients. \n
