SUMMARY:BioFIT Conference
DESCRIPTION:BioFIT is the leading partnering event in Europe for technology transfer\, academia-industry collaborations\, early-stage innovation and seed investment in the field of Life Sciences. With more than 1\,200 international leading actors from 35+ countries\, the event gathers big pharma\, emerging and small biotech companies\, pre-seed/seed/Series A investors\, as well as professionals from tech transfer\, academia and research institutions. \nThe Conference Programme at a glance \nNew players involved in innovation in the health sector\nBig data and health IT companies provide key expertise to potentially increase efficiency in the discovery\, preclinical and clinical stages of development. What will be their position and involvement in the therapeutic innovation chain: Will they participate or lead? Examples of collaborations between biotech\, pharma and academic research will be highlighted. However\, these new players don’t only originate from the big data sector\, they also come from various areas such as animal health or e-health. \nNurturing and licensing early-stage assets\nEarly stage assets evolve in an ecosystem in which TTOs\, scientists and entrepreneurs are closely connected. This subject will focus on assessing opportunities in licensing early-stage projects\, discussing the monitoring role of TTOs and exploring the scientists’ commitment. It aims to underline the difficulties for maturing early-stage assets. How can we transform science into business more frequently and efficiently? \nBioentrepreneurs’ challenges at pre-seed\, seed and Series A stages\nThe right mindset\, a solid presentation and business model are not the sole requirements that bioentrepreneurs must fulfill at pre-seed\, seed and Series A stages. What are the expectations of project maturity from seed investors in 2018? How often are new types of early-stage investors involved in financing rounds (including philanthropic and specialised ventures)? How does the angles/seed investors relationship work? Are there increasing interactions and partnerships between pharma and VCs at these initial stages? \nRegister Now for BioFit 2017\nMedilink members can receive 25% off booking fees. There are also sponsorship and exhibition opportunities available. To find out more or register your place\, please click here.

SUMMARY:THE ROLE OF DOSE PREDICTION IN INCREASING SUCCESS OF EARLY DRUG DEVELOPMENT
DESCRIPTION:XenoGesis is joining forces with Juniper Pharma Services to host a seminar on ‘The role of dose prediction in increasing success of early drug development’. \nGaining a thorough understanding of the chemical and pharmacological attributes of a drug substance through preclinical studies is paramount for providing an effective dosage form for first-in-human clinical trials. Yet often insufficient consideration is given to ‘knowing the compound’ before selecting a presentation for clinical evaluation. In particular\, an accurate prediction of an appropriate dose range is vitally important for adopting the most appropriate formulation strategy for the compound. If the formulation is not suitable to deliver the required quantity of the drug then the outcome of the clinical trial may be compromised. \nJuniper Pharma Services and XenoGesis work together successfully to provide an integrated biopharmaceutics service offering. The unique combined approach helps to remove the gap between ‘chemical’ and ‘biological’ to provide the most effective drug delivery solutions. \nRichard Weaver joins Rob Harris to provide an insight into how our joint\, consultative approach to drug development can help in understanding the absorption and clearance characteristics of a drug substance and how these properties will influence dose prediction and selection of an appropriate formulation strategy. \nTo find out more about this event or to register your free place\, please click here.
