SUMMARY:Webinar: The importance of dose prediction for early drug development
DESCRIPTION:XenoGesis is joining forces with Juniper Pharma Services to present a webinar on the importance of dose prediction for early drug development. \nGaining a thorough understanding of the chemical and pharmacological attributes of a drug substance through preclinical studies is paramount for providing an effective dosage form for first-in-human clinical trials. Yet often insufficient consideration is given to ‘knowing the compound’ before selecting a presentation for clinical evaluation. In particular\, an accurate prediction of an appropriate dose range is vitally important for adopting the most appropriate formulation strategy for the compound. If the formulation is not suitable to deliver the required quantity of the drug then the outcome of the clinical trial may be compromised. \nJuniper Pharma Services and XenoGesis work together successfully to provide an integrated biopharmaceutics service offering. The unique combined approach helps to remove the gap between ‘chemical’ and ‘biological’ to provide the most effective drug delivery solutions. \nGraham Trevitt joins Rob Harris to provide an insight into how our joint\, consultative approach to drug development can help in understanding the absorption and clearance characteristics of a drug substance and how these properties will influence dose prediction and selection of an appropriate formulation strategy. \nTo find out more or register for the webinar\, please click here.

SUMMARY:MediWales GDPR & Cyber Security Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join MediWales and Geldards for this workshop providing key advice on the new GDPR framework. \nEvent Programme \n9:30am \nRegistration \n10:00am \n“Data Protection & GDPR Overview for the Life Sciences Sector” – Lowri Phillips & Helen Snow\, Partner and Senior Associate at Geldards LLP \nSo what is the GDPR? The Information Commissioner has called it a “game changer for everyone”. The GDPR is the new EU data protection framework which harmonises standards across all Member States. The GDPR will directly apply in the UK from 25 May 2018. As an organisation in the Life Sciences Sector you will not only be dealing with personal data but you are also likely to be processing sensitive personal data or special categories of data such as genetic\, biometric or health data\, which is given additional protection under the GDPR. Although May 2018 may seem like a long way off\, there is much to be done in terms of preparation. Once it comes in it will have an immediate impact and certain breaches could result in fines of up to €20 million or 4% of global annual turnover. It is\, therefore\, something that should be on your radar now. \n11:15am \nCoffee Break \n11:45am \n“The role of the Data Protection Officer\, Cyber Security and Data Breach Reporting” – Matthew Phillips\, Data Protection Officer at Alert Logic \nUnder the GDPR it is a requirement for organisations whose core activities consist of processing special categories of data on a large scale to appoint a DPO. Matthew Phillips\, Data Protection Officer at Alert Logic\, will discuss the responsibilities and requirements of the DPO under the GDPR and will consider the importance of Cyber Security in the post GDPR era of mandatory breach reporting. \n12:30pm \nLunch & Close \nThis workshop is free to attend\, for more information or to register your place\, please click here.
