We know how important it is that your business in the medtech & life sciences sector can get the right skills, training and staff who can help your firm deliver, grow and adapt, but we also hear how challenging that can be – and so we’re supporting the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) and asking for your help.

The next LSIP for Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire is being developed by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) on behalf of Skills England and in partnership with East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA).

Creative and Cultural/Manufacturing etc has been chosen as one of the eight priority sectors, and we are asking you to share your skills issues – recruitment challenges, gaps in provision, how you are accessing training and support – to help influence local courses, funding and investment.

We would love to hear your thoughts through a short skills survey. The survey is live until 5pm Sunday 8 February and will take 10-15 minutes to complete. Can you help us to boost responses from the medtech & life sciences sector?

All responses will be anonymised and the survey can be accessed here: Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire Employers Survey 2026

Take the survey here.

Employers in life sciences and health & social care – if your business relies on getting the right skills for your future growth, we need to hear from you!

What are the occupations you struggle to fill, what skills and training do your staff and new recruits need? What struggles do you have?

Please take part in this special focus group delving into your sector and investigating your recruitment and training needs.
