Professional services group Gateley has significantly enhanced its growing trade mark practice following the acquisition of boutique IP firm Groom Wilkes & Wright LLP (GWW).

GWW, which specialises in every aspect of trade mark and design law, was acquired in a move that significantly enhances the already considerable IP expertise present across Gateley in patent and trade mark attorney services, as well as complementary enforcement, licensing and commercialisation services.

GWW’s established and experienced team, which has a long and distinguished track record of working with leading brands, will work alongside Adamson Jones’ growing team of trade mark attorneys to offer a combined breadth and depth of expertise and position Gateley as one of the leading trade mark specialists in the UK.

“I’m delighted to welcome Groom Wilkes & Wright LLP to Gateley,” said Rod Waldie, chief executive officer of Gateley.

“This strategic acquisition complements the great work already being done by our IP teams across Gateley Legal, Adamson Jones, and Symbiosis IP, and firmly positions Gateley as a formidable and growing force in IP.

“The combination of GWW’s experienced team of trade mark attorneys alongside the existing team in Adamson Jones means that Gateley now offers broader trade mark services with deeper reach into numerous sectors. There is considerable potential for further growth, including the ability to offer clients complementary professional services from within Gateley Group in a way that few other trade mark attorney businesses can match”.

Founded more than 20 years ago and led by senior partner Trevor Wright, GWW represents a diverse range of clients, from start-ups to some of the world’s biggest brand-owning companies, across any and every sector.

“I’m so pleased that my colleagues and I are joining Gateley,” said Trevor Wright, senior partner and found of GWW. “Since our first meeting, I’ve been impressed by its strategic vision of building deep expertise in a broad range of trade mark and wider IP services.

“We also share the same core values: a commitment to excellence in client services, delivered as a team. I’m very grateful to my colleagues for their hard work and dedication to this point. Gateley will be a fantastic new home for them and for the GWW business.”
