Tim Slater has been appointed CEO of NHS Supply Chain, following Nick Gerrard’s announcement that he will be leaving at the end of April. Here is a personal note from Nick to all his colleagues in the NHS.

“Dear NHS colleague,

I wanted to inform you that I will be leaving NHS Supply Chain at the end of April to take up a new position in DHL as Chief Transformation Officer for our Global Life Science and Healthcare Sector.

This change in career path is something I have been planning for a number of months, having completed almost 9 years working in the NHS Supply Chain business, initially as the Chief Operating Officer and for the last five and a half years as your Chief Executive Officer.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my period of time in the NHS and it has certainly developed me as an individual.  When I look back at the results we have delivered and also some of the challenges we have worked through, I am immensely proud to have had the privilege of working with such a great group of people and providing a vital service to the NHS.

I am delighted to confirm that Tim Slater will be taking over as CEO NHS Supply Chain on 1st May 2016 and between now and May, Tim and myself will be working on a comprehensive handover plan.  I will remain as CEO until this date.  Tim brings in a wealth of experience having worked for DHL for more than 20 years. During this time he has held a number of senior positions across DHL including managing DHL’s entire UK&I Transportation fleet as well as a number of industry sectors. His primary objective in these roles has been to ensure DHL Supply Chain is the safest, most efficient and customer-focused provider in the industry. Tim represents the interests of DHL Supply Chain with Government, Regulators and Industry Bodies and is a member of Transport for London’s Freight Forum.  He is also a Director of the Road Haulage Association.

Tim is a Trustee and deputy chair of the DHL UK Foundation, which funds programs helping disadvantaged children and young people achieve their full potential.”
