Lord Paul Drayson, CEO, Drayson Technologies will lead the programme of health technology industry speakers at next week’s MediCity Innovators’ gathering in Nottingham on Tuesday 15th March.  An expert in energy-harvesting technology, Lord Drayson is due to explain the impact such technologies will have on new healthcare platforms within the Internet of Things.

Over 200 industry leaders, entrepreneurs, academics and investors are expected to take part in ‘The Future of Proactive Healthtech’ at MediCity, the UK’s fastest-growing innovation hub for health, beauty and wellbeing. In addition to the line-up of top speakers, delegates will take advantage of this event to share ideas, build new collaborations and learn from other industry experts.

David Browning, managing director of MediCity says: ‘We have deliberately designed this gathering to help accelerate the emergence of new ideas and partnerships that will ultimately improve peoples’ health and wellbeing. There is a pressing need to take a multi-disciplinary approach to the development and commercialisation of systems, products or processes that we will all be able to use to manage our own health and wellbeing.”

Lord Drayson will be joined by Giovanni Monti, Director of Healthcare Innovation, Walgreens Boots Alliance who will highlight examples of innovation that are enabling people to take more responsibility for their health and wellbeing. Other speakers are David Plans, CEO & Co-founder, BioBeats; Dr Mike Short, Vice President Telefonica Europe; and Paul Thomas, CTO for Health and Care at Microsoft Services.

David Browning adds: “For me this is what MediCity Innovators’ Week is all about; a lively mix of inspirational talks from industry leaders to an audience of influencers, investors, entrepreneurs and academics. With more than 30 companies now based at MediCity, this event is a brilliant chance to invite professionals and businesses from across the UK to share the hub’s building knowledge and experience in the health tech sector.”

In addition to the five keynote addresses, the day’s programme includes a number of pop-up pitches from innovators with early-stage product ideas as well as panel discussions guided by leading industry professionals.
