Shaping Tomorrow’s Life Sciences Leaders.

What is the Future Talent Laboratory?

The Future Talent Laboratory (FTL) is Medilink Midlands’ pioneering innovation support programme designed to nurture the next generation of talent in the life sciences, medtech, and health sectors. Our mission is to prepare students and postgraduates for life after graduation – equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and connections to thrive across entrepreneurial, research, and industrial career paths.

Our vision

Grow the life sciences sector by investing in future talent.

  • Retain and support regional talent to flourish within the Midlands ecosystem.
  • Connect students and graduates to national and international networks, employers, and opportunities.

Who is it for?

The FTL is open to students, postgraduates, and early-career professionals interested in:

  • Research careers – supporting those pursuing academic research.
  • Industrial roles – for individuals seeking careers in medtech, pharma, regulatory, or IP organisations.
  • Entrepreneurial paths – for innovators ready to explore spin-outs, start-ups, or their own ventures.

How we support you

Through a combination of online resources, in-person and virtual events, expert mentoring, and access to data insights, the FTL helps you build confidence and capability in the sector.
