Programme Structure
MMIB meets innovators at different stages of development through tailored support streams. To better align with the evolving needs of ventures, MMIB has evolved into a new two-tiered structure, Accelerate and Elevate.
Accelerate
Supporting early-stage companies with strong foundations, an investment readiness health check, and exposure via a dedicated HIVE event.
Elevate
Building on Accelerate with bespoke, venture-specific support and an exclusive Investor HIVE event for targeted introductions.
Cohort 1 Impact
Venture Day (3 June ’25) marked the pinnacle of MMIB support, hosted at the Birmingham offices of Mills & Reeve, a Medilink Midlands Patron. Cohort 1 members pitched their innovations to a curated audience of leading investment funds, industry stakeholders, and ecosystem partners.

In addition to Venture Day, three cohort members – Acies Medical, Neuro20 Technologies Corp and PROSTPERIA were invited to present at the Med-Tech Innovation Conference and Expo in Birmingham, where Medilink Midlands was a headline sponsor. The event is the UK’s leading medtech industry showcase, offering invaluable exposure to national and international partners, investors and commercial leaders.

Each application is assessed to ensure ventures are placed in the tier where they will gain the most meaningful impact. The support provided is valued at more than £15,000, representing a highly subsidised opportunity to accelerate growth.

Christian Kumar, CEO of Medtech Makers Lab, brings 30+ years’ experience in corporate finance, investment banking, and wealth management, helping Medilink Midlands members commercialise their innovations. A pioneer of “demand-based” business modelling, he has led six companies and 22+ investments across Medtech, Leisure, Construction, and Energy, and now advises universities and government bodies on growth and inbound investment strategies that drive innovation.
