The background to the case study
Prescriptive solutions develop and implement integrated care models designed to deliver better quality, greater productivity, improved health outcomes and enhanced capacity in primary care. They produce a range of effective marketing and communication tools to get the healthcare message to the people that matter. The company also works with employers to support healthier workplaces.

Prescriptive Solutions Ltd was incorporated in July 2012 and currently has 5 employees. The company is based in Leicester.

The challenge / trigger event
Script TV is a television channel which has been designed (by Prescriptive solutions) for broadcast in waiting areas of any healthcare service provider. The main focus of the technology is to improve patient/clinician relationships and improve patient experience. Programme content is designed to be streamed in a variety of media including pre-recorded films, live national news headlines, local weather updates, UV levels and other RSS feeds as required.

USP: Script TV is the only media company which has a product which caters for the patients’ needs and provides information, whilst also promoting the services of the hospitals and pharmacies.

The solution
Medilink EM awarded a £9,930 Innovation Support Grant, under the SoLSTICE project.

This allowed the company to conduct a pilot study with script TV in a cohort of pharmacies in order to evaluate and quantify the benefits. The services required included the purchase of media equipment for the pilot study, and the installation of technology within Pharmacies.

Overall, Script TV promotes:

·       Improved environment and patient experience

·       Effective engagement and communication with patients

·       Access to harder to reach patients

·       Positive psychology of shorter waiting times

·       Enhanced delivery of health information

The results / evaluation
The SCRIPT TV programme, if piloted successfully, will implement integrated care models designed to improve patient outcomes in a number of ways. The content of the media will be informative, up to date and educational. The information delivered, where applicable, will help patients to understand their illness and avoid further complications.

The benefits of receiving this grant will also ultimately include:

·       Creating jobs; the company intends to create at least 11 new positions by the end of 2018, an increase of 220% from 2016

·       Investing in technology that will enhance the service capabilities of prescriptive solutions ltd

·       Exporting script TV globally, going on to provide  the service to Europe and worldwide

Medilink East Midlands’s role
The project has benefited from Medilink’s involvement in the following ways:

·       Reduced the time to commercialisation and the lower risk of project failure

·       Identified new opportunities and helpful contacts

·       Added further investment/grant sources to the project

·       Created 2 new roles: Film production support and IT development support
