The East Midlands Academic Health Science Network’s East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator is designed to help companies further the spread of their digital health technologies and innovations within the NHS, with a tailored package of expert support available to successful applicants.

Support is tailored to the need of the business and has included one-to-one support and coaching, value proposition development and opportunities to showcase products to NHS decision-makers and influencers.

Applications to the scheme are invited from all digital health innovators, ranging from fully-fledged businesses to those with ideas and concepts for digital health innovations that they would like a platform to develop.

Applications are now open and close Monday 19 October. The process will be competitive, with only a small number of spaces available on the Accelerator. You can find out more about the application process and apply by visiting our East Midlands Health Digital Accelerator webpage.

We are also running a virtual question and answer session to answer any queries you may have about the Accelerator. This will take place on Thursday 24 September, 10.30-11.15 am. To register for this session or to receive a recording, please email: [email protected]

From 2019, the scheme has supported five companies, including three newly recruited companies and two alumni members from the year before.

The 2019 cohort included:

MyCognition – the MyCognition PRO app enables people to correct and improve their cognitive functioning, strengthen their mental resilience and increase their productivity. This helps healthcare organisations better manage patients in community care and their own homes.

eKare (formerly Woundworks) – eKare’s InSight enables accurate, consistent wound assessments and supports clinical decision making across all wound areas. Users can obtain 2D/3D wound measurements and tissue classification in seconds at the point of care, without touching the wound.

Qardio – Qardio’s QardioArm BP offers in clinic, home blood pressure remote monitoring and 24 hour ambulatory recordings in an easy to use device. The device helps patients monitor their blood pressure easily and links to an app so patients can easily see and interpret their results. When used by or shared with clinicians, the results can help to address misdiagnosed and undiagnosed hypertension.

Spirit Digital – Spirit’s platform CliniTouch Vie provides remote clinical monitoring of medical conditions by healthcare professionals to help people who have had multiple admissions to stay out of hospital. Patients with a long-term condition such as COPD are able to submit answers to condition-specific questions and submit their vital sign readings. Clinicians are notified based on a risk score and by doing this CliniTouch Vie supports healthcare teams to actively monitor a patient’s condition, enabling a prioritised focus on those who need support.

Howz – Howz Home Care Kit works using a series of sensors which feed information through to an app. Howz software learns patterns of behaviour and allows the user and their friends, family, carers (with the right permissions) to monitor health indicators and spots changes, which is often an early indication of health deterioration.
